The Aftermath of Irene

30 August 2011 § Leave a comment

It is hard to think about food in times like these. I’ve been stress-eating my way through my hurricane supplies – chocolate, chips, cookies, you name it.  The situation upstate NY and Vermont is still horrible. People are without homes, cars, bridges. There is a group of 100 special needs campers stranded in East Jewett. There is a wedding party stranded at the Full Moon Resort in Oliverea.

This is the latest from our town of  Phoenicia – click for film footage – not a pretty picture.

The good news is all our friends are accounted for and their homes have fared well. Others were not so fortunate and we are thinking of you.

Please spread the news that the Red Cross needs volunteers – over 18, must be able to lift 35lbs and have a driving licence. If you know anyone that has the time please send them this way. Otherwise you can just send cash.
